Choose My Plate

Nutrition is a long range issue, and one day or one week does not make or break good health.
American Academy of Pediatrics

One of Big Sandy Area Community Action Program Head Start's goals is to promote healthy life-long habits. These include, but are not limited to:

        1. Teaching parents and children how to choose and eat wholesome foods, as well as maintain a healthy lifestyle.
        2. Teaching parents and children to exercise for good health.
        3. Encouraging parents and children to engage their individual styles and preferences.
        4. Placing emphasis on shared meal times, making them enjoyable and stress-free.
        5. Empowering families with children who have special dietary needs.

Families are the most important influence on their children. They can do many things to help their children develop healthy eating habits for life.
